1. Update your profile information
a. Under the “Profile” tab in the header, please make sure to upload a picture representing your franchise for your avatar. Also make sure your display name references your franchise as well (ex. Washington Wizards, Don”da”Wizards, Donald (Wizards GM).
2. Make sure you have created a Chatango account for this league. Please make sure that your Avatar reflects your franchise. As long as your avatar is your team, your name can be to your choosing.
a. Chatango is the embed chat option that is used by ProBoards and can be found at bottom of each page. This will help with communicating when multiple owners are online. They also have an app if you would like to download it.
b. chatango.com/login is where you can sign up if you haven’t already.
3. Make sure your franchise “Front Office” is filled out.
a. Under your Conference boards, you can find your Team board. Each Team Board contains your Team Threads. In the “Front Office” team thread, please fill out the information requested (this information will help give owners the correct and best contact information for each franchise).
4. Pick your “Building Block” contracts.
a. Your full team roster is listed in a spreadsheet in Google Sheets and can be found via Team Headquarters in the header bar. As real life NBA moves are made, I will be updating the rosters.
b. We also took the time to simulate the “Building Block” contracts for all 30 teams. You can find this under the Mock Draft Room in the header bar. In the Mock Draft room, you can also find the FA list with contracts.
5. Know your options.
a. The Draft simulation will probably be pretty spot on for the most part. Use this to get an idea of what FA’s will be available, and their contracts. Remember this is a salary cap league, so you want to acquire talent, but you don’t want to exhaust all your cap doing so.
b. Familiarize yourself with the scoring system. This should have an impact on the players you choose.
6. Create your strategy
a. I don’t need to go into detail here. Everyone plays the game their way. Some may look to win now, others may look to develop their team for future dominance. Whatever strategy you choose, start the process planning process now.
7. Create your Pre-Draft FA rankings.
a. The FA list will not be finalized until after the “Building Block” contracts are locked. Yet, as stated above the FA list in the Mock Draft room can give you a good idea of what to expect.
8. Familiarize yourself with the rules.
Last but not least check the league page regularly if possible. I’ll be posting material and articles to encourage activity, I urge everyone to do the same. Talk smack, debate, joke, and introduce yourself to other owners. Hope everyone is excited about the league, I’m anticipating some quality fantasy basketball!
